follow the wires from the distributor. (not the plug wires.)

Is it possible that i burnt up the camshaft sensor by cranking the truck repeatedly before i made the repairs because i had a bad fuel problem before i took it apart

Not likely.

And do NOT turn the distributor. That jacks up the fuel sync, and does not set timing on these things. Have you turned it already?

what makes you think that all of a sudden the timing is 180* off? These magnum engines are interference engines so if your timing was 180* off you would've bent the valves by cranking it over. Im not saying its not off; maybe 1 tooth or 2 at the most but any more than that runs a high chance of engine damage.

Well i rechecked and found that my timing was not 180 out.i was thrown off by the marks on the harmonic balance as there are three and yes i turned my distributor but its back where it started now and i only did that after i was having the problem and had tried pretty much everything else i could think of.im about to replace the cam position sensor in the distributor now but its a shot in the dark because it was cranking before i started but it just wouldnt go over about 1500a or 2000a rpm and i found a lot of water in my fuel.my planum gasket was also bad so i did both jobs at once

You need to re-attach the wire from the sending unit as it also relays the ASD(automatic shutdown low oil pressure)If your keeping the manual gage get a Y adapter or such to run both.Just a thought.........

Also go to the FAQ/DIY section and download service manual if you have not done so alreay. It will be helpful.

No it doesn't. The rest of the truck doesn't care what oil pressure is. Only the rod, main, and cam bearings...... you could drive your truck with zero oil pressure right up until the engine seized.

I did not think that sounded right. But paper copy of FSM is 200 miles away, and I was too lazy to go upstairs and boot up 1TB drive to verify...
