The intellectual dishonesty was the straw man argument (that seemed likely to also be ad hominem), that bit about me oohing and aahing over lifted trucks. There's nothing I might do, right or wrong, that would make your running overloaded on public highways right, so there was no valid, honorable reason to suggest that I might be doing something wrong.
So: Lessons learned, onward into the unknowable future.
Well unless you can find a dodge 1 ton from 1998-2002 model years I have had no success finding one under $10K in reasonable shape. So as much as I hate to say it we are looking at a Ford for now, planning on either keeping this 1/2 ton or else selling it after we use it a little and getting a Dodge Cummins 3/4 ton. Then we would have two heavy duty trucks. So I will still be in the Dodge world either way
. Oh and I couldn't forget we will still have a Dodge van rofl... Hey, the Ford is gonna get a Dodge Cummins, Dodge NV5600, and Dodge Tcase and front axle lolol.... So half Dodge and Half Ford. Sound okay?

Sound okay?already got the axles, just need to get some replacement parts for the d60(brakes wheel bearsings, and drivers side axle shaft)
Well like I told Wombat, if you can find someone who just wants a half ton truck without the trans and tcase, sure! Otherwise we can't really part with the trans as we couldn't sell it then!
If you want a trans and tcase, I can put a word in at the place I got mine and probably get you a trans and tcase for about the same price as mine ($2865 shipped, might be a little more if it has to ship farther).

Okay, and good on ya for taking the massive pile of 5h17 and abuse that was (rightly) heaped upon you, and learning from it.

And since you're not half as slow as I am, you're already ahead of me.

no way am i spending 3k on something like that...
i'm really, really glad that the continental divide is between us and would weed you out of the gene pool should you try to get too near me with 15,000 pounds behind your truck. There is nothing special about your damned truck, and nothing special about the damned driver, either. It's unsafe. Period.
this ^^^
Well I think UnReg is still glad the continental divide is still between us but I don't think he would mind now to come on over...
Redneck, I can understand you not wanting to pay that much. I simply wanted a professionally rebuilt transmission with warranty. So if all you want is a used one great, $500 is a wonderful deal.
I remember now a saying I heard of some time ago, so now I will expand it:
It's not about pushing your truck to the absolute maximum limits, it's about safely running your truck. Remember, the best safety device is a careful operator, not a pushy one.
The original saying was, "The worlds best safety device is a careful operator". I remember now that it came from a 198?s tractor care book that was just a general guide. Has a lot of great info if you ever want to check it out: Tractor and small engine maintenance I think. not the easiest to get.

Well, nice to see this one resolved. So, let's all just leave it alone now, shall we?
@tech... Yeah, folks are pretty proud of the dodge diesels.... its absolutely scary what kind of prices they command. There are a couple places on the net that deal exclusively with dodges, and some just with dodge diesels... may wanna have a look for those.
Looking at the 02 1 tons... (they are still second gen body style, etc...) the V-10 actually has a higher tow rating than the diesel.... by 1000 pounds. Of course, the truck is only rated to tow 8600 pounds.... which seems REALLY low to me..... I think that assumes a fully loaded truck though too. (a truck AT GVWR, not just the power windows and such.
)
