2001 ram 1500 5.2 46re 4x4 qc
Have a p1740 shifts1,2,3, nothing but high rpms after 45-50 keeps climbing. changed fuild and filter found nothing a thin cote of metal smear on magnet, no chips chunks or grit. wireing inside looks good. checked the tps steps up and down correctly on the meeter. tv cable adjusted and overdrive switch on the shifter is working when i turn off overdrive rpms climb and when i turn back on they go down. what could cause my trans not to shift after 45-50 trans temp is fine also check valve is not plugged ???????????? HELLLLLLPPPPP

 

So you are getting no lockup and no overdrive correct? If so drop pan and clean and check the solenoids.. if that checks out it is most likely rebuild time

 

sounds like you have lock up but no overdrive like posted previously check and clean

some advice would be if it seems like it just needs one part that escaltes quickly and then your paying for a rebuild on top of the parts you put in so if you start needing parts for it pay once for the rebuild insted of paying for parts 3 or 4 times then a rebuild

 

What RPM are you running at 55 MPH?

Mine shifts into overdrive right about 45 MPH........

 

it should shift at 45 mph but it wont shift 45,55,65, i dont want to push past that rpm. When im driveing slower and take the od off light on the dash comes on sayin od off i can feel it kick out and my rpms go up so my od drive is operating just when i get up to 45 no shift. and if my od is working when i hit the button on the dash then dosnt that mean the soleniod is working or is tha just afecting my lock up. can sume one break this down for me. thank you

 

Im not take my truck to the shop so they can lube me up. I Know that the trans is good shift strong lots of power no sings of ware when i did the fuild and filter solenoids i assumed (yes i said assumed) were good cause when i locked out of od it acted as normal rpms up more power. I dont understand what could cause this cause everything seams to be opperaiting

 

If it shifts into overdrive at 45-50 mph..... that is normal. Once in O/D, there isn't anything beyond that...

What RPM are you running at 55 MPH??

 

Maybe you lost 4th gear. Did you happend to check your bands?

 

just saying i can hit 45 in 1st gear alone...

 

when im in drive "D" i can get up to 45 and it should shift one more time. AT 55MPH im a little over 2000 rpm. I dont know whats goin on but 1st, 2nd,3rdup to 45 mph fine but no shift after
