i will check the oil pump. im going out on a limb here but is there any way to do a fuel sinc without going to a dealer?

 

Didn't think about oil pump! Good catch. I think something stopped the camshaft from turning while the crank kept rotating...briefly....

Fixing the sypmtom without finding the cause may recreate the catastrpohy!

well lets stop and think what would cause a motor to stop like that or cause the cam to stop while the crank is still spinning and go from there.

 

so was there still a plastic piece attached to the shaft? also is there a broken pin in the shaft somewhere or does it look like it it missing? may almost want to take apart the distributor and see what went on?

 

ok i am holding the old distrubuter an typing i dont see a plastic piece attached to the shaft and i dont see a pin but i do see were one should be

 

Pin may be laying inside engone....but I don't think there is any way one could look down that hole without a flex camera. Evven a small pin could jam it up.

Crazzywolfie, is it a roll pin or solid pin? I've never had one of these out.

 

i am pretty sure it is a rolled pin. not sure if they changed it between 91 and 01

so did the cam still turn freely? there should have been a a plastic piece on the shaft at the bottom of the distributor case to prevent the shaft from going up. if it is missing along with the pin i might be a bit worried about where it went?

 

ok i think im going to pull the pan to be shure thats got me concurned

 

nope no plastic and no pin on the distributer
