Plug-in OBDII tuner. Rewrites the programming for the engine. Does things like get rid of torque management...... which might get the OP close to his 500 lb/ft goal in and of itself.

Really? Simply reprogramming the computer could result in that kind of gain? Elaborate on that if you could HeyYou. (Where could I get something like that, how does it actually work, etc)

Hemifever (links already provided.) is pretty much the accepted "best" for tuners for our trucks. On the OBDII PCM's, (96 and up) you can simply overwrite the stock programming, with new programming, that is more aggressive in both timing, and fuel curves. Instant power. For 265 bucks, you get three 'canned' tunes, and I consider this one of THE best 'bang for the buck' mods on the Ram's. For 365, you get unlimited custom tunes. Only need custom tunes if you change engine internals, or go forced induction.

Torque management was dodges brilliant *cough cough* strategy for helping their wimpy transmissions last longer. I think that came about in around 98?? I think. Getting rid of it NOTICEABLY wakes up even stock motors.

Ohhh, I'm REALLY liking the sound of this! (Thanks guys!) Is it engine specific? (For example, can I buy it now, reprogram my little 318 then use it on the V-10's computer after the swap? Or do I need to purchase it specifically for the engine I want to program?)

Specifically for the engine you want to program.

It's VIN Specific. And no you can't use it on a 318 then on the V10.

Nope. It simply reads the VIN off of the PCM.
