Default help with a '96 ram

So my brother has a '96 ram 1500 4x4. He said he started it the other morning to warm up before work, went inside, and it wasnt running when he came back out. And then wouldnt restart. He said it was turning over but just wouldnt fire up. He changed the spark plugs and is looking into the possibility of the fuel filter being clogged. (trying all the cheap stuff first). But the plug change didnt help. Any opinions on, or possibilities for the problem would be greatly appreciated. Im no master mechanic but i know my way around a vehicle. Thanks for the help!

Find out what is missing before throwing money at it. Got Spark at the plugs? Fuel pressure?

Engine size? Mileage? Did it run out of gas? Changing the plugs was the wrong first move. Did you check to see if you even had spark at the plugs? Three things are needed for ignition: Fuel, air and fire. Check those before throwing parts at it.
