Parking Brake Pedal
Afternoon everyone..
Just recently purchased my 96 Ram 1500 4X4 Extended Cab. I'm still getting used to the lay of the land if you will. Question???? When I engage the parking brake, is the pedal supposed to come back up? I can hear it engaging when pressing down and the mechanism locks in place and releases when I pull on the release lever but the pedal doesn't stay down. Is this normal? Every car/truck I've ever owned that has an emergency brake pedal that operates this way stays down until disengaged. Hope I explained this so you all understand...
Thanks,
Jay

Yes, normal for a RAM.
Ok, read your post too quick. The pedal should stay down until released. Get up in there with a flashlite and check the mechanism for sticking. You'll see when you look.
At least I know thats how they work on a 98 and up. Maybe someone with an older one will chime in to be sure.
