oil pan pick uptube
ok, i rebuilt my hole front end. that turned out great.
I droped my oil pan to replace the gasket, and noticed my oil pick up tube was full, so i went ahead and replace the oil pump and pick up tube. and after i started my truck a loud banging was happening. im thinking that the pickup tube could be getting hit. it gets louder with the high rpms. has anyone ever had this problem. i dont think i it could be the oil pump.

Did you note the position of the tube on the old pump and install it the same way on the new pump?
Do you have pressure?
Also, I have replaced my pump once and main seal twice without priming... truck still runs like a champ although the main seal (or something else) still leaks... lol... So while it is a good idea to prime, if you forget it is not automatic death to your engine.
