Default Transmission Beef-up Question

I have a 2000 dodge ram sport 5.9ci with 46re transmission with 138,xxx on it original trans, Is there anything I could do to beef up the transmission that won't exactly break the bank and is simple to install? I know of trans oil coolers, but most of the people I see installing them are towing a lot, this truck just a daily driver/occasional hauler. the trans is not acting up at all, I just wanna prevent future issues. Its my first truck and I really love it. thanks for any input

Trans cooler is NEVER a bad thing. Heat is what kills your trans, so, anything you can do to help keep it around 180 or so, is good. (aux cooler, and temp gauge would be a nice idea.)

Doing a fluid/filter/band adjustment wouldn't be bad either. If you are feelin' really froggy, swap the stock governor pressure sensor/solenoid, for the Borg Warner heavy duty fellers.

Not a lot else you can do without pulling the trans. And that ain't cheap....

Yep, should be found in the FAQ/DIY section. And if not it will be soon.

yeah the trans oil cooler is probably the way I'm gonna go, once I get some money together, what brand do you think is pretty good? I'll see about getting one and putting it on myself, it seems pretty simple to do.

Check valve delete for sure.

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...46rh-46re.html

As explained by aim4squirrels:

"So why on earth would you want to remove this? Well, if you have debris in your trans fluid from normal wear and tear, a common place for it to collect is in the check valve. When this happens, the fluid flow can eventually stop and with no way to cool the internals of the transmission, it will overheat and die. A failure of this type usually results in a rebuild to the tune of at least $1200 or more."
