Rear Speed Sensor Help

Rear Speed Sensor Help
Okay, so I've had my brake light and abs lights on. And my my speedometer was not kicking til 20mph or so. So I know its the speed sensor. So I went down to my favorite store at o'reilys and got me a rear speed sensor for $31.99. Took out the old and installed it last night. Was working fine from work to home today and then my lights came back on, so I thought I overtightened it. So I get back under loosen then snug it, and my lights went off again. But now the problem is my speedometer won't even register anything past 5-10mph and my lights will go on and off backand forth. I'm confused. Anyone know of a solution? Would be greatly appreciated.

did you reset the computer after you changed the sensor? unplug the neg battery cable and turn the headlight switch on. if you do that and it still doesn't help, you may want to try testing the gauge cluster, which is a procedure that's in the factory service manual. I believe it involves holding in the trip/mileage button on the dash with the keys in the on position.
also, how do you know it was the rear speed sensor? if you can, get to a store that has an obdII reader that will read abs codes

Took it back, got it replaced with another one. Picked up some dielectric lube too, and put it in her. It works great, speedometer is working from the jump and no more lights, with smoother gear shift.
