Ok, i got the vibration dampener back on, the oil pump (which i primed), and the oil pan and gasket. Saturday, i'll install the lifters (i went with the Johnson Hy-Lifters from Hughes), and the heads, and valvetrain, time allowing). I need to start thinking about the intake, i already have the plate to do the plenum fix, my question is, is the kegger mod worth doing?

I already have a camshaft with .520 intake lift, and heads with 2.02 intake valves. I'm afraid of losing all my torque with the kegger mod, what do you all think?

I'm using the FelPro Permatorque Head Gaskets. These are the first heads i've ever installed. Any tips or suggestions? Do i need to use a sealant on my head gaskets?

I'm using a Haynes manual, so i do have the torque specs and i know the order in which the bolts go in and are installed, but any tips, or suggestions are definitely welcome!

No sealants on head gaskets. Make sure both surfaces (block, and head) are SQUEAKY clean.

What are you cam specs? (lift, duration, designed RPM range, etc.) So far, it sounds like it isn't going to be all that great for bottom end torque in any event.... What rockers are you going to use?

Depending on your exact cam specs, combined with the larger valves, I don't think the kegger manifold is going to make that engine very happy. I suspect you are going to need a better flowing manifold to fully realize your engines potential.

Ok thanks on the gaskets! I suspected that but wasn't sure.

I have the following camshaft http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/p...=&partid=11430

It has a .512 intake lift, .520 exhaust lift, intake duration at .050 is 208, and on the exhaust lift, it is 214 degrees. LSA is 114 degrees, recommended RPM range is idle to 5500 RPMs. I'm hoping to re-use my pushrods and stock, 1.6 ratio lifters...

I'm not towing with this truck, and it would be very rare if i eved do. I know i'm loosing some torque, but don't want to lose all of it. So you all recommend the kegger mod? I know it's nota new intake, but Hughe's wants $600 for their intake... I'm just looking to do what's best.

Ok, good cam. Gonna raise your power band up a bit anyway with the larger valve heads.... Still don't think the kegger is the 'best' manifold to use though. Might check around and see if you can find an M1 two barrel on the used market. (ebay, etc.) They can be had somewhat cheaper, and are a more straightforward install. (and it would complement the cam nicely.....)

You are moving your power to the mid/upper rpm range anyway... the kegger is ok in mid range, but, chokes off flow in the higher rpm range.... (may not even be an issue, depending on your driving style) expect it to fall flat on its face above about 4K RPM. Slightly higher with the kegger mod. The M1 would probably give you BACK some of the low end, and let you use the full range of the cam. (and thereby, take advantage of the bigger valves.)

Not something you HAVE to do, but, something to keep in mind for the future.

I would do the kegger mod in any event. (especially removing the center divider) Opens up the manifold a bit, gives you a slightly wider power band. You will probably need a custom tune for everything to work really well. May wanna have a chat with hemifever tuning.

Ok, fraid i might have just ruined my kegger... I was cutting a runner with a recipricating saw, and the boot on the saw came in contact with the gasket surface, leaving a flaw on the gasket surface. The indention is not bad, but it's about 1.5 inches long, it's barely big enough to feel with my finger. Does it sound like toast?

If it is, is there anyone on this forum who wouldlike to sell a modded kegger, or aftermarket intake manifold???

I have a modded kegger with a hughes plate already installed. I also have an unmodded stock kegger with the factory pan still on it.

Modded is from an 01318

Unmodded is from a 98 360
