If you want another auto., you're pretty much stuck with getting a '94 or '95 46RH. The 46RE's bolt up, but the electronics are so different, forget it.

Best to get a RH and rebuild it to make sure you're not putting JY junk in it.

I am going to have this one rebuilt but I still need the truck to get back to and from in the meantime. There is a guy in Jasper indiana that rebuild the ram granny's specifically he charges 400 labor plus parts. I priced a new one at 1900. Either way it will be a few paychecks before either option is possible so I will swap out with a junkyard one for 100 bucks. Thanks for everything guys

I understand that the 46re is not comparable, is the 47rh? If so what are the differences?

47rh is not compatible. Different input shaft, TC size, and bellhousing. Gotta have a 46RH.

Most of the internal parts interchange between the 46RH and 46RE. You can put a lot of the 47RH parts in it to give you a stouter trans. when you rebuild. Read MonteC's trans thread stickied at the top of the forum, it'll give you more info than you can possibly use. Page 6 has a parts list for building a tough 46RE trans. Probably be best to call Wittrans to make sure on the interchangeability before ordering if you decide to go that route.

Ok, and what about the rebuild kit at autozo? Is that all I will need if I try this rebuild myself?

If you only want a stock rebuild, it will work. (for certain values of 'work'.) You would be better off spending a bit more on a better quality kit that had some upgrades as well. And do NOT skimp on the torque converter.
