Default 1995 Dodge Ram/Installed new long block...issues

Installed new long block. Timing marks are ok. Distributor gear installed correctly. Distributor and rotor lined up to mark on pickup coil at #1 TDC and truck will not start. Have to turn distibutor to extreme counterclockwise and then truck starts but run poor. Suggestions??

Turning the distributor alters your fuel synch., not ignition timing. Take it to a shop and get the fuel synch. set. Or take it to a dealership.

Pull the distributor, pull your number one plug. Turn the engine by hand until you feel compression blowing out the number one spark plug hole. Set engine to TDC for number one. Follow procedure in SM to re-install distributor.
