Either way, you need an alignment in one form or another.

Replace the gearbox with a borgesen, or Redhead. Stock replacements just give you the same problems.

How to get pitman arm off: buy a new pitman with replacement steering box. Remove box and old pitman arm as a unit. Throw away old box and arm. Install new arm on new box. Open fridge. Open beer. Enjoy.

Slightly more expensive, but, most certainly a lot less frustrating. Fewer busted knuckles too......

Did I mention I like the way you think?

okay so i finally got it off where it goes into the gearbox.. day 5 of the thing being cranked on there i got home from work. went to tighten it and was like whys it so loose? wasnt sure if i was loosening it or what then the thing dropped right down off.. so i guess the moral is dont expect it to be a fast process!

I had a 2wd 1500 that I was replacing the steering joints on. Dodge, in there wisdom, decided that the wearable part should be made into the pitman arm for the 2wds. I tired pullers and impacts for about 3 minutes before breaking out the 4.5" rotary abrasive wrench. After a few seconds with the grinder I had a nice slot ground mostly through the pitman arm. Put a chisel in the slot, hit with hammer to finish spliting. The slightest pressure from the puller and it slid right off.
