Post friend on side of road need help

Hi yall. my friend is about 200 miles from home on the side of the road, he has a 98 dodge 2500 v10 magnum and he said he heard a "pop" and the oil pressure went to 0 and thats it, he shut it down and looked around its got oil in it and nothing leaking out of it..... he has started it a couple times (to get it farther off the road he has a 20' camper behind it) but he says if he lets it run very much at all he can hear lifters ticking...... any help ???? thanks much,,,,,

Sorry to say but it needs to be towed, no oil under it, not blowing out the exhaust means bad things, oil pump failure or??? Its probably rebuild time or new motor time.

Sensors are real spotty but if he can hear lifter tick the oil isn't getting up the top end like it needs to. Running it any further is really risking completely toasting the engine

Yep. Tow truck time.

Sounds like the oil pump failed.

There is no oil pump shaft. The pump is built into the timing cover.

The pump basically gets rebuilt, and the parts for the pump are dealer only. The rest of the stuff, gaskets etc... can be had at an auto parts store. Here is some good info, https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...placement.html
