speaking from experience -

my intended exhaust changes that were going to cost zero, turned into a mess that cost $400.

hollowed out cat with stock muffler sounded like crap. i hated it.
so next i replaced the hollow cat with the Jegs Y pipe. still sounded like crap.
so next i went to the local muffler shop and shelled out $250 for a new muffler with dual outlets out the rear to get the reflected side exhaust out of my ear. it sounds fine now.

i asked the local muffler shop for the biggest, quietest, 1 in/2 out that would fit. its a larger generic/knockoff copy of a flowmaster or something. its quiet going down the road with no snap, crackle, pop. when you get on it you can hear it.
