Low on coolant(134A). I'd still replace the check valves in the vac lines (and check the lines themselves). And remove the belt, and see if the outer pulley on the compressor is nice and smooth when spinning and doesnt wobble. I doubt you have a shim problem.

Wouldn't replacing the check valves and checking the lines require that the system be vacuumed out and replenished? I am trying to save a bit of money here, as I am short on cash, I have checked the pulleys and all of them, even the one on the compressor are rather new, only a few years old maybe, they are all nice and smooth.

Atm the clutch is continuing to engage, so that's good, it has yet to go out again. If it does, i'm kind of afraid to try and add 134a, as of the horror stories i've read about adding too much, if my gauges read correctly when it's working, then it seems like the r134a only need's topped of a tad, if that. So I would be afraid to add too much, I did buy a gauge set though.

NO! I'm talking about your vacuum lines and the check valves that are installed in them. The doors inside the HVAC box work in mysterious ways, the electric motor on your truck only serves one function (hot or cold) , the vac lines and check valves do other things. I recently fixed the same prob you are having by replacing said valves on two different trucks. They are only like 7 bucks each from the dealer. Need replace sooner or later anyway. If not the prob, we can go from there.

Where are the vacuum lines and the valves located in a 2000 Dodge? And can you get the replacement valves at places like AutoZone?

Although not the exact same issue as yours, look through this thread. IIRC there are some some good pics to point you in the right direction.

Can you get the valves at autozone? And also, reading somewhere else, I think it could have something to do with the check valves, or a possible leak? Because sometimes (not all the time) when I accelerate, my air kicks off and starts blowing through the dash, like if defrost was on, does this mean it's a leak, or bad valves that can be replaced?

Okay, found two valves near the passenger side, a T and a V, they seem to check out okay, but I couldn't find the PCV valve.

Bad check valves for your first Q above and the pcv valve is in the valve cover.

The T and the V valve are the check valves correct? I think I found the PCV valve, but it seems like it is very hard to pull out.
