Does it shut down immediately? Or does it wait a few seconds? If the latter, that's normal. It should re-engage as soon as the PCM gets signal from the cam or crank sensor, telling it the engine is turning.

it stays on for bout 2 seconds then shuts off and doesn't come back on. and Ive checked the camshaft sensor its fine. ok so last night I tore it down and built it back up I cranked it and it fired up for 2 seconds spit out of the tb and died. my starter went out so nothing more I could try so this morning I went and bought a starter, and its been triggering the asd relay all day ive traced every wire I can find and the fault code its throwing is 11 wich ive already checked the camshaft sensor its fine not to mention its brand new! have had some trouble out of the ignition switch what color wire coming out of it can I check for ignition power if applicable??? im at a loss of words on this build. its kicked me in the *** at every corner

11 Timing belt skipped 1 tooth or more from initial learned value, Intermittent loss of either camshaft or crankshaft position sensor, No crank reference signal detected during engine cranking

What brand sensors? Looks a lot like it thinks fuel sync is out of spec. Doesn't really wanna run that way.

I think it is a warner but I put a new timing chain and gears on. so I know it didn't skip a tooth! I even took the chain cover back off and its fine. it doesn't want to run at all. all it does is trip the relay and ive tried rigging the relay I had power going to all of my sensors and coil and it wouldn't let it run that way either how can I adjust the fuel sync I do not have a drb? truck wont run so I cant take anywhere. It doesn't make sense to me it shuts down the relay before I can even crank it over. so what I did to insure it wasn't the relay I put my old one back on and still same code, and the relay still shut it down???? im dumb founded and ive already quite a bit of money in this old girl I really need her to run. o and I set the distributor while I had the intake out so I was able to get the base turned perfectly aligned with the number one cylinder, that's why I suppose it fired up first good turn I got outta my starter that night. any ideas would be greatly appreciated im lost..

"so what I did to insure it wasn't the relay I put my old one back on and still same code" what I was referring to in this sentence was my camshaft sensor^^^^

There are some tests listed in the the service manual (that you can download from the service manual thread in the faq section here) for the cam and crank sensors.... but, the most thorough tests require the scan tool. Such fun.

Have you been disconnecting the battery while changing sensors and such? If not, try it. Leave it disconnected for a few minutes, with the headlights on. That makes sure the PCM is completely cleared. Hook it back up, and try and start the truck. See what happens.

Tchain top gear @ 6, bottom gear @ 12 or dot to dot = cyld 6 on the dizzy.
Both set @12 = 1 on the dizzy.
If you turned the dizy base to get it to point @ 1 that will need to go back to where it was and then find out where you are a tooth out.

And lastly

Keep it running for around 5 mins with your foot. Idle relearn procedure unless youve got the timing wrong still.
