IF there is a vacuum leak there, it won't work very well..... and any rust on the inside will jam it up pretty good. Might wanna pull it, and see what ya got inside. Careful though, the bolts that hold the housing to the axle break way too easily. (don't ask me how I know this.....)

Of course it did. I hate it when that happens......

If there is some still sticking out, you can weld a nut to it, and it'll likely come right out. The act of welding heats the whole bolt, which tends to get it to break loose easier.
