Rearend...2nd to 3rd Gen. question...
The dana 60s seem to be more as readily available in 4.10. But they require more money. You could probably just put the rear in? Cut and havve 2.5 perches welded on. Thats what merc did.
Or you could get a 9.25 with 3.55 and just take front driveshaft out, but then you wouldnt have any 4x4
idk just spitballin ideas here

Ill be done with finals next wednesday then I have a month and half free to work on my truck. Weather permitting. I have all the parts i need.
I would say a solid 2-3 days work to finish after, but of course I could always pull the rear axle out of mine first

Hambone not sure what you meant by taking the front driveshaft out....sounds like you will have the parts I need to get it back on the road simple and fast but along ways between us. think I have found a couple complete rearends at local junk yards...
With mismatched gears you wouldnt want to run 4x4. Do you have 4.10s now? I assume you do becase hey you said you want the ORE. But maybe you have 3.55 and want to upgrade.
Yes I have a 9.25 3.55 LSD about to come out of my truck

oh ok, now I see what you were saying. well I have to get it torn apart in the next day or two to see what actually happened and I need so I will for sure keep the parts you will have in the back of my mind. another think that confuses it all is when I bought the truck I was told the front had been changed to a 60 and the gears were switched to 4:10's. Well awhile ago when I did axle joints and balljoints found it is still a 44 up front so very possible the gears are still stock 3:55 also...
HB takes care of his truck so that's a big plus and its in use so that's a good sign as well, nice thing about getting the full rear is no messing with gears. Couple of hrs work and you are back on the road.
you can determine your gear ratio by jacking the axle up, marking the driveshaft and then counting how many times the the driveshaft turns over one full revolution and counting the times the tire completes a revolution. Do 30 tire revolutions Then divide by 10, or something. Youtube will explain it better
feel free to shoot me a pm if need be

I have a 3.55 9.25 Rear in my garage. I've kept it as a standby should I grenade mine but it's never happened. It's rusty on the outside but it came out of a running truck. I did crack it open and the oil looked alright not milky and it had been changed at least once, red Rtv and all that.
I'm about 250 miles away, pay for my fuel and you can have the rear end for what I paid for it. $440.

I have a 9.25 rear end that came off my 2000 ORE that has 4.56 gears in it, it would bolt right up. You would just have to get 4.56 gears in the front to use your 4wd. I've been advertising it on craigs list and nobody shows an interest. It's starting to get in the way. If you were closer, i'd say come get it.
