guess that is what I am trying to determine...if i repaired what i have best route would be something like a detroit locker, yukon locking diff or something with the whole new carrier and gears but my concern with that is since it looks like the pinion bearing exploded, i drove it a ways back to civilization in 4wd dont want to do all that if the pinion nose of the housing is damaged, oblongated or something and i will never get it sealed. hearing mixed opinions

Have you given any thoughts to installing a Dana 60 rear diff? Like HeyYou posted cheaper to find another diff but instead of a 9.25 see if there are any 60's floating around you for sale cheap. You will have better luck finding one of those (Dana 60) with the 4.10 ratio than a 9.25 with 4.10's. Yes you would need rim's they can be found used as well, spring perches are cheap like $12 for a pair and a rear ds or your's shortened.

Cheapest is going to be finding a used rear that is a direct swap. (same gear ratio) Next would be a D60, (surprisingly enough), most expensive would be rebuilding what you have......

Like merc said, 9.25 with 4.10s are rare as shat.

That ratio is much more available in 2500s. AKA dana 60s. Nice upgrade too.

The last part of the bom number for a Dana 60 will be

-1 = 3.55 ratio
-2 = 4.10 ratio

Need to verify that the gears are indeed 4.10's.... on the first page, he was told that the front was a D60, which its not..... so, maybe the line he was given about the gears wasn't exactly accurate either.....

If the truck is an ORE (didn't notice that anywhere in the thread...), well, that's altogether a different kettle of fish.

OP your truck is an 01 correct? Pre 00 axles will be a coupler inches shorter than what yours came with.

Not sure how much it will affect....

Yep ok op can you post up the string of numbers that are stamped on the side of the ring gear. This will help us tell you what ratio was in the back anyway.
