Default 98 ram 1500 5.2 4x4 vac line problem going to 4x4 shifter on front axle

The steel lines going to vac shifter. One of steel lines near catalytic converter has an opening was wondering if it should be like that and if that would cause truck to not fully disengage from 4x4. Light is off

Those are vacuum lines. If they have a hole in them, the front axle won't engage. need to fix that.

Welcome to DF!

One line will engage the front axle, other line is to disengage. If the hole isn't too bad, things will just move slowly. But, it will get worse as time goes by.

Shake in O/D is a separate issue. My guess is, if you check, you will find you are getting some misfire codes. (as that is what you are feeling...) More than likely you have a blown plenum, that is working on eating the front O2 sensor, and clogging your cat. Need to fix that too.

That's a common symptom of a misfire, truck shake in OD. Check plugs, wires, and cap & rotor, or just replace them, probably needs it anyway.

Did you check the plenum and fix it with a new aluminum plate? If not that work will quickly become done for nothing...
