So, I have a 98 Ram 1500 5.2 4x4 auto, I've replaced the cap and rotor when I was having issues starting the truck when it was really damp out. And now I still have issues, only now I don't have to use the hair dryer. And it took less time to start it. Any ideas?
Cap and rotor is good. Plugs and wires are recent before I got the truck 3k ago. It took ten minutes just to start the truck. Fuel pump is good too. Fuel pressure is normal as well. Bad grounds maybe?
I would look HARD at the plug wires first...... a cheap set will leak when wet, even when new.... Easy to test. On a nice dry evening, before it gets full dark, spray a mist of water over the wires while the engine is running. If you get a light show, time for new wires.
I'll probably replace both coil and wires and plugs anyways. Seeing how the truck was neglected though. The guy said he did the plugs and wires but probably did screw something up
