96 Ram 1500 speedometer doesn't work
Help!!;
1996 Dodge Ram 1500 Magnum V6 3.9L with 78000 miles.
I replaced the VSS yesterday. I had to go pretty fast because transmission fluid started coming out when I pulled the old one.
I let the PCM learn by disconnecting both posts on the battery (before I changed the VSS). Re-connected the battery, turned key to on position, gave a slow count to ten. Then started the truck. Speedometer still doesn't work. Are their fuses or other modules that could cause this or could my quick swap have caused an issue?
.Thanks,
Torx

Rear abs speed sensor fixed my speedometer and cruise. Shifting issues had to change governor pressure sensor solenoid. transducer solenoid. And the transmission speed sensor with the harness to complete having normal shifting. Took me months to figure everything out. 1998 Dodge 1500 Laramie with a 96 transmission.
In the full size trucks, the VSS was on the trans, or t-case output shaft thru 1997 model year. In 98, it went away, and the rear wheel speed sensor did the job.
What is it about folks that they don't seem to pay any attention to dates? They find some thread via a google search or whatever, and completely ignore the fact that the thread is a decade or more old, and NONE of the original posters in the thread are even still around..... And of course, they disappear shortly thereafter, never to be seen again. Though I will admit, I HAVE seen a member that has been here for a while, do the same thing, and then give attitude when called out on it..... That is an extremely rare occurrence though...
All the threads are "new" to them and they don't pay attention to the dates. There are some forums I don't regularly visit but look at the dates if I am going to post. Are there any "read before posing" threads here? I know some forums have them. If not maybe it would be a good idea. Not that they are going to read it but at least the rules are there for them to read.
