How do I prime new oil pump.

Default How do I prime new oil pump.

Changing my oil pump for a high volume pump but my question is how do I prime the new pump so I will have pressure?

The procedure is ridiculously simple..... you pour a bit of oil into the top of the pump before you install it.... that's it. I filled it up, turned it a bit (backwards, so the oil would get into the gears) added a bit more, and installed it. Pressure came up almost immediately after startup.

I use this tool to turn the oil pump to pressurize the oil system when building or modifying a motor. Its handy to have and works on most MOPAR V8s:

Okay so my truck is showing no oil pressure do I have to give it some time or what?

Update I brought the rpms up a little the oil pressure went up but then back down

Shouldn't take more than a few seconds to build pressure......
