Default ECT shorted out now no spark

I changed my ECT cause my temp gauge wasn't working and it still didn't work after I replaced it so I decided to run a wire from the positive side of the ECT plug and ground it to see if the needle moved but I accidently touched it to the positive battery post and I heard a pop that sounded like it came from the passenger side of the truck now my truck will turn over but will not start, I changed my ignition coil and I'm getting no spark, I found online that if you short the sensors out it could cause no spark, but how to I fix this problem??

Which sensor did you replace? The two wire, or one wire sensor?

Hopefully you just blew one of the PCM fuses. Check them all though....I would help you but our system is purged of 95 wiring.

I checked all the fuses under my hood, would it be a relay, guy at part store told me maybe my ignition relay but I don't see it, just ASD, starter, fuel pump, Horn relays, the rest are the long fuses with square plastic coverings, 30, 40, and 50 amps but these all look good too. Where do I need to look for the PCM fuses at? Would they be in the 2 fuse boxes, you would thank so. All fuses in the cab are good. This is just stumping me

Try swapping back to your old ECT to see if you can get the truck to run. This should determine if the ECT is at fault or not.

That would be the two wire sensor? (that's where mine is...) That one is for the PCM. The single wire connector sensor, to the passenger side of the thermostat housing, is for the gauge.

Are you getting power to the Coil?

Yeah its the 2 wire connector the guy's at the part store told me that sensor worked my temp gauge so thats why I replaced it. I jsed a continity tester and Im getting power to the coils plug in but none through the coil, could it be bad I just bought it the other day

Guys at the parts store were wrong. Up until 98, there were two temp sensors. The single wire sensor was for the gauge. Two wire was for the PCM. If you applied 12 volts to the wrong wire on that sensor connector, there is a good chance you smoked the PCM. (it only runs five volts on that sensor, I do believe.)

Are you getting spark while cranking?
