Default new intake installed!!

well i got my hughes intake in now and the truck is somewhat back to life!!

my old intake literally had a oil lake in the bottom of it.

i installed the IAT into one of the many vacuum ports the intake had and the one that runs into the side of the manifold with the 3 way connector has a open spot going towards the back of the motor on the passenger side. any idea where this would run to?

truck still has a rough idle around 5-6 hundred and is pretty boggy.
all new wires, ngk platinum plugs because they didnt have champions.... dist cap and rotor. and IAT sensor is new. maybe throttle body sensors, cam or crank sensor? and maybe that vacuum line could be my troubles?

going to cut cat off tomorrow and replace with a muffler. any suggestions?

You don`t want the IAT in a vacuum port, it needs to be were it can read the incoming air going through the throttle body. I would suggest you find a better place to install it.

okay thanks for the info! ill put it into the intake tube like the instructions say too. i was just assumeing that would be fine in a port since it is on the keg intake.

On the kegger, the sensor reaches into one of the runners, so it gets a pretty direct read of air temp.

Have your O2 sensors been replaced recently? They can cause issues at idle...try unplugging them and see if your idling issue is resolved. I also have the hughes intake....its an excellent product. I also happened to have a K&N cold air intake that provided the perfect place for me to place the IAT sensor. I didn't even have to extend the wires!

So you didn't change anything and the light went out on its own? I wouldn't hold my breath on it being fixed permanently. Get rid of the cat and make sure your O2 sensors are in good shape...just for future reference, our trucks prefer copper plugs...i just use the regular ol plain jane autolite coppers. Truck runs great.

Yeah, sometimes the rare-earth plugs cause more trouble than they are really worth.

As everyone keeps telling you, you need to replace the 02 sensors, especially if there original with over 70,000 miles on them. You should also consider replacing the crank shaft position sensor. These sensors wear out over time and can cause issues. They don`t always throw a code when they go bad, but can cause a rough idle or engine miss.
