Ok, so found a good deal on a 47re 2WD. My tranny in my truck right now is an 01 2wd tranny with a 4wd overdrive unit. The truck is a 98 so internal harness had to be swapped. I did not do this myself; how hard is it to swap overdrive units, and what are the acceptable cut-off years on which trannys had same electonics. I know the earliers are 47rh's, but which are good for what? I know 98 doesn't work with 01 lol, but that's about it. Can you put a 47rh in and its all hydraulic no worries? Thanks for the help guys

94-95 (and maybe some early 96) will be RH transmissions. 96 and up are RE, I believe the internal electronics changed in 00.
You *can* install the RH trans in the newer trucks, but, the check engine lite will always be on, with trans codes..... O/D and TCC may not work because of that as well.

So I'm looking into doing this swap
I just got my hands on a 2nd Gen 2500 that was salvage by being T boned
Engine and transmission is intact as well as the axles
My only question is what's the best way to go about transferring all the parts over to my 1500?
Do I need to lift the body off the frame and how do I figure the little tedious things I need to do?

I have access to hobby shop on the base I'm stationed at to give you an idea of what tools I have available
I just want to know how long I'll be without a vehicle
