it seems like mine hits 100 then it cuts the rpm to like 2500 i think it's shifting into od and loosing all it's power but it's running at like 4000 so i dont think it would go much faster if i kept it out of od. it also wont burn the tires off the line if i mash it? i'm woundering if mabey my timing could be off but it sounds healty at 4000? i also dont have a cat and i have 2 1/2 out the rear could i not have enough back pressure? when i got the truck the cat was pluged so i hollowed it out should i replace it i was going to be doing exaust anyways.

 

I like Fords and especially there 97-03 F-150's and am a fan of the Mustangs also but the 302 just isn't a very good motor I wouldn't call one fast. I would be embarassed to be talking smack if all I had was a 302.

My 96 1500 318 5 speed is a quick little thing. Completely stock. A few months ago i was with a buddy of mine and he wanted to see what my truck had. So without thinking i took it into third gear and went. I had my truck up to 115 with ease but it didn't want to stop so i let off of the pedal and slowed it down. When I stoped at the next light my friend was glued to the seat grabbing the "Oh $hit handle." That was a rush.

i just put new heads on my truck so i think before when i ran it up it was the cracked heads slowing me down because it has a lot more power now then it did and it just sounds heathy.

 

I've seen problems with the 318 motor. Mine is a better running engine than some of the boys around here have. I matched mine up against another boys and blew him out of the water. Although the 318 is a good engine, i wouldn't mind switching to the 360. It all depends on who is behind the wheel.

 

took it out tonight and it gets to 100 alot faster than before but it still seems to struggle after that? it could just be that i'm afraid that i will get pulled over but... it's good enough for me i can snow drift better than all my freinds that have front drive 4 bangars.

 

Whats funny FORD boy is I could probly take you and I have twice the weight and all I have is a chip TB exhaust and some nice brand new Bosh Platinum 4 sparkplugs. So when your feeling ballsey come bring your POS down to Texas and I'll so you what a real truck is.....HAVE A NICE DAY!
