New throttle position sensor causing truck to smoke
I just put a new throttle position sensor on my 01 dodge 5.2l after installing truck started off by surging then once i re- adjusted the new sensor quit until i took it for a drive to town and it began a poping in park then began dumping out blue smoke. is the sensor bad (duralast with lifetime waranty) or does the truck just not like it?
Blue smoke is oil, not fuel.
Did you reset the PCM, so it could learn the new sensor? If not, just disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes, hook it back up, turn the ignition to on, (not start) count to 10, THEN start the truck. (don't touch the gas pedal)
Does the smoke clear up after a bit?

thats what is confusing me is that its a blue smoke and it has seldomly smoked but when it has never this much. i unhooked the battery but may have got a little impatient on hooking it up ill try it agai
Possibly bad sensor, or, the PCM simply just doesn't like it. Wouldn't be the first time a dodge truck refused to play nice with a duralast sensor.....
Another possibility is: Something else failed, and it just had strange timing...... How much blue smoke ya gettin'? Do you have a consistent miss, even at idle? Engine making any odd noises?

i took the new off and re installed the old hoping it will smooth back out and take the new back. There a good bit of smoke once the gas is hit ill get a large cloud big enough for me to see it float away.
