Upgrade axle
I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 with the 318 on it. I have done some upgrades to the engine but im not Able to do burn outs i have 22x10" srt10's on it and a friend told me i could do an upgrade to the axle by putting different gears in it but i dont know how that works i want to know where to buy them and where to get them
Generally it's done in relation to tire size not rim size is why I asked. You can order gears through a few places. Google works for looking them up. And the best idea depending on how mechanically inclined you are is bring the truck to a mechanic who deals with trucks or lifted trucks as they would be able to do that for you. If all you are worried about is burning out try getting a posi lock as well as some 4.56 gears

What gear ratio do you have now?
Your tires are basically 31.5 inches diameter.... and I would suspect you have 3.55 gears. Keep in mind, that changing the rear end gears is NOT something I would recommend for you to do yourself. If done wrong, (which is VERY easy) you can grenade the entire rear end..... Given your penchant for burnouts...... I would bet it wouldn't take long either.
Also, keep in mind, gear swaps are NOT inexpensive...... you are looking at 600-1000 bucks, depending on what gears you buy........
Think I would be tempted to compensate with more horsepower, before going after gears.

Hopefully HEYYOU chimes in. Larger gears reduce the drag your engine feels trying to turn your tires. Therefore your engine requires less effort to move the tires. Posi traction just locks both rear tires together instead of 1 spinning at a time. But like HEYYOU stated making more power is cheaper than that gear swap. Usually you only gear swap with larger tires as larger tires adds drag to the truck. What modifications have you done to your truck? And personally if you want to do burnouts a hemi would be your best bet as the 2nd gems are more work horses than street racers in my opinion
