Worth it to swap in ORE axles?

Default Worth it to swap in ORE axles?

So I was perusing my local junkyard and saw they had an off road edition Ram and they only want 500 for both the front and rear axles. Would it be worth it to swap them out with mine? I know they're 4.10s and right now I'm running 33s and my next set will be 35s.

I'll still want to regear my current axles and swap them back in later.
I just feel like it'll be way better to run 35s with the 4.10s then it will be with my current 3.55s.

And for 500 it seems like a good deal to me..

I'd go for it! Swap the fluid first and look over everything real good.

I agree with jolly. You get two axles with the right gears for about the cost of regearing one axle...... Sounds like a good deal to me.

Sweet I think I'll get them in a week or so when I can, hopefully they'll still be there.

Funny thing is they're about half what everyone around me wants to regear one axle.

With all the work you should consider just finding some Dana 60s. Lot more of the 2500s came with 4.10s too. If you find 01-02 axles you would get rear disc brakes too.

Just a thought. Especially considering you're going to 35s.. (maybe more in the future)


They bolt in with some minor modification to the rear axle. OH and a ds.

Just a thought.

I'd grab them. They'll be 4.10 gears PLUS they'll fit your current wheel's bolt pattern.

Yeah I'd really love to but I have never been able to find any for less than 1500 for a pair which is way less affordable than 500.
It's definitely something I will be doing down the line but right now I just can't justify it or afford it.

Yeah people want way to much money for them. Best bet is to buy a old junker 2500 with the V8 cuz no body wants them lol.

If it came attached to a Cummins its double the price, even if its the exact same thing. Like the front axle

Got the rear pulled today, someone had got the front before me so I only got the rear. Doesn't really matter I'll pull the front driveshaft and have a 2wd for a while lol
It's in better condition then I had remembered it


Just a couple small issues


The flange on the pinion is different then the one in my truck so I won't be able to bolt it in tomorrow like I had planned
Need someone to tell me the easiest way to remedy that

And I haven't been able to pull the brake drums off
Both sides spin freely with little effort so the brakes aren't locked up or anything
Could there be a little rust holding the drums on?
