Heck if I know.
My core support says it's a 96 gasser, the door jamb sticker is AWOL, the cab and bed are off very different trucks, but the engine matches the VIN plate (which is in the glove box due to the dash shattering).
I had the build sheet run after I bought the thing - it was a Canadian market truck and white, originally. It's got a US cluster and it's green/silver now with white paint under the green on the cab and red under the green on the bed. It had the 4wd linkage hanging under it, but it's a 2WD truck.
But I've got a clean title...
And since it's a 12-valve, the build date would have been before 1/1/98

It turns out that I had a HUMAN (Head's Up My Anus Now) moment there, which I'm going to blame on the Vicodin even if it's not at fault just because opiates make me stupid(er than usual). My apologies.
The change I was thinking of was that of the anti-lock brake controller... through which the tone ring tach signal passes on its way to the PCM. I suppose that if one is stoned on artificial poppies it might be an understandable mistake, but I'm not on that crap any more so it doesn't make sense even to me now.
