Default Power Window SUDDEN Strange Failure, Drivers Side Only, Need Help!

So I was driving and put the drivers side window down about 2 inches, and it's now stuck in that position! I've NEVER had a problem, this has failed instantly and is mysterious.

Won't go back up and won't go further down, makes no noises at all when the switch is pressed.

Passenger side works totally normal, power locks still work also.

I'm at a loss as to what would cause this instant failure only on one side (fuse appears to be shared with both).

Do you hear the motor inside the door at all?

Default Good news!

I've just solved my mystery problem, at least for now...

I grabbed the top of the glass and wiggled it. Then I hit the button and it worked!

Must have been stuck... I think I'll get some silicone spray to lube up the sides.

Thanks for help!

Yup, depending on your location you may have some of those brackets inside the door rust out. Glad you fixed it!

It's not fixed, The motor brushes are worn. It may work intermittently but eventually it will stop working. I need to replace mine also just haven't got to it yet. Next time it stops working, Hold the switch (up or down) and smack the door panel with your fist. It then should start to work.

Or just help it along in the direction you want it to go.

Next time, try wiggling the switch rapidly, and see if that gets its attention. My window switches are reluctant on occasion, and a quick wiggle will generally get them going again. If not, probably time for a new motor.

That's the trick that worked for me, I just bought my Caravan the other day and the passenger window didn't work, then suddenly yesterday the driver's window stopped working, fuse/relay was good, so I tried the slam the door while holding the switch down trick and immediately they each started working, so it looks like I'll just need to clean/lube the motors.

And replace the brushes and possibly cut the commutator.
