Hey guys I have a 94 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 360 4x4 gas anyone know how much horsepower they push would love to know I'm running all stock besides spectre cold air intake and straight pipes
Sure do appreciate it guys thanks have a great day God bless!
It's almost impossible to convince a young man that an absorption muffler will always outflow the equivalently sized straight pipe. I guess it's more about rude noise than actual performance.

Not that it really matters..... Some magazine or other did a bunch of dyno tests, changing ONLY the muffler.... Everything from a straight pipe, to the stock boat anchor.... there was a difference of at most 2 horsepower across the field. So, mufflers are only for sound, they do not affect horsepower enough to even consider. Well, unless you are a race team, and every single pony counts.....

... or maximizing the peak numbers is not your primary concern.
and not worry about the 1 or 2 horsepower I am losing out on at an RPM range my truck never sees.
That's one aspect of the whole point... Myself, the only peaks I care about are those visible outside the windows, so I'm more concerned with the shape of the horsepower curve than the peak value of it. Give me a strong midrange so I can attack the grades on the highways threading between those peaks without dropping gears to find the powerband, and I'm a happy grandpa.
But the major point remains: The only thing straight pipes are good for is keeping attractive women out of your truck. All they do is tell the world that you're either too broke to buy a muffler or too immature to have outgrown making loud noises to attract attention. Neither of those things is likely to get your chubster smooched by anything you're not paying to do it.
