Wasn't bad at all, so far probably have 5-6 hors in it. Taking it easy and slow. It's amazing how easy the TC came apart....didn't even need a puller for the forward flange. The truck only has 88k miles. The hardest part was getting the cross member out...it's like it was press fit in lol...gonna have to use a floor jack to press it back in. And the top right tranny nut was buggered up. Had to hammer a socket on it....not much room up there.

Rumor has it, that if you drop the crossmember in from above where it mounts, it's easier.

I have the same truck and same issue exactly the way you describe it. You said you didn't drive it very far, but was wondering if you could feel the vibration/grind in the 4wd shifter. When my does it the shifter feels calm. I also feel like I hear it more up in the front end. Is this where yours sounded like it was coming from?

Hey thanks for the rumor!!! I never had my hand on the shifter when moving so don't know that one, but I would have SWORN it was a problem up front...I thought the axle coupler was stripped or something

Thanks, I need to dig into this this summer. Is it just a gasket and chain (or a kit you can buy) that you got or did you do that saver kit with it? I've never had one apart so I'm a bit clueless what all comes off or what should be replaced as long as it's apart.

I thought the bearings and seals were in such good shape that I didn't replace them, but you can get a complete overhaul kit. I just bought a new chain, 135 bucks, and used ultrablack silicone to put the case halves back together (looks like what the factory used too). Be sure to get a new front output spline seal and flange nut too. The manual says they are not reusable
