Question Mystery transmission part found in pan. Help!

I pulled my transmission pan to find this little guy sitting in the bottom of it. I've gone over parts lists and exploded views of the 46re trans but can't for the life of me find out what it is or where it goes.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

It was shifting through all the gears, but I'd have to go WOT to 5k in first, then let off the gas to get it to shift into 2nd. All the other shifts were fine, but it the converter would unlock every so often while cruising. So I replaced all the sensors today; but found that in the pan when I dropped it. Thanks for ID'ing it for me.

I have to add the 1-2 shift issue was intermittent. It would Rev to 3k light throttle and shift into 2nd sometimes, but when the fluid got hot I'd have to floor it to get it to shift. I also adjusted the TV cable until I was blue in the face.

Its actually skipping 2nd gear....it can be reinstalled but requires valve body removal....I have seen this many times and about half the time no other damaged occurs...apparently the band stretches and allows the strut to fall out of place.....

The valve body is already out for the sensors/solenoids/ line pressure sensor. Went ahead and ordered a billet accumulator piston while it was apart, so it'll be a few days. I'll put the anchor back in while I'm waiting for the piston to arrive. Thanks again, I had a mini heart attack for a little while.

Just an FYI...

Would the place where that part goes be noticeable when you dropped the valve body or would you just have to "know" where it goes?

I was able to Google it once I found out what it was. Seems easy enough to put it back in, but I'll find out when I cross that bridge.
