Lost Factory Tune

A file is a file, unless it's encrypted. That being said, I'm sure it has some kind of funky name that will make no sense to us normal people. If you see similar file names on both devices: first copy and paste them from the new tuner to a folder on your PC. Name it something that you will remember. Then copy and paste the files from the old tuner to the new. If all else fails, you can "probably" copy and paste the originals (now on your PC) back into the new tuner and it "may" work.

Go to the SCT website and find the device updater for your model tuner. Once you have it downloaded you should find a button that says "Get Stock File From Device".
After that, you might be able to find a program to transfer it from one device to the other... but I don't know for sure if it will work.
The biggest problem I think you will run in to is the ECM will be locked (married) to the old scanner and won't allow any other tune to be loaded, even factory. That is why the dealer told you they had a 50/50 chance.
All updates for custom tuning are sent via email and loaded into the updater, then loaded into the truck.
This is the opening screen for my device updater.

I would use this, but my device is the older X2 model and is not supported by this software
