Default AC orifice tube selection

Has anybody had any luck playing with different sized orifice tubes or Variable orifice tubes? It is time to fix the AC on my 95 2500 4x4. I, as any normal hotrodder, am looking to get more performance from the AC....With it not working at all, almost anything will be an improvement. If anybody has messed around with this kind of idea and returned to factory a spec'ed orifice, just give us a holler.

So far as I know, sticking with the stock size is your best bet. The system works GREAT, when it is working correctly. Going to the wrong size, (too big, or too small) will either not get you the cooling you want, or, you will end up freezing the evap core, and getting NO airflow.

I am sure there is probably some cool function to determine the 'just right' size for the amount of space, typical operating pressures, etc...... but, where you would find that, is beyond me.

Most systems are a balanced design.
I've seen an improvement from having E-fans (more airflow through the condenser).
I don't know how much difference the Chilli-Gas freon products make.
More evaporater coils in the cab might help... but how to get them in there is the challenge.
Then you might need more condenser coils, and so it continues...

the engineer who designed it found the best orifice for it...stick with the oem orifice. why make work for yourself?

The above may be true but let's not give them TOO much credit. They are the same ones that put the CPS in an unforgivable place, used SAE and metric and torx and never spent a minute on how to repair/replace things when needed. That said, there may be room for improvement (isn't there always?) but, really, it's probably not worth it.

Gentlemen, Are we talking about the same Engineers that we ask "Who the hell designed this?" As we have blood dripping off our knuckles?....Or the ones that have us the K car?......Where is your Spirit of HotRodding?...By the way. I am just going to add an extra fan to the condenser..With the factory tube.

Well the small block mopar didn't have a need for crank sensor when it was originally designed so it was a add on. Say what you will about some of the design faults of mopars but at least i don't need to remove the intake manifold to replace the spark plugs like in so many jap cars. If you think a Dodge is bad try working on a Mitsubishi!

On the GM LT5 motor, (the 32 valve V-8 put in ZR-1 Corvettes back in the early 90's) the frigging starter motor was under the multi-piece intake manifold.... Talk about a job....
