Default Transmission Swapped, No O.D.

tranny went on my 2001 2500 5.9 v8 gas. anyways i had a 1999 half ton with a 5.9 gas, so i swapped them (new fluid and filter), everything works great besides overdrive, ive read up they changed electronics in 2000 (ofcourse after i finished the swap), but is there anything i can do to make the tranny go into overdrive? or swap anything from my 2001 tranny.

No CEL at all

Runs about 3000 at 60

any help is appreciated. thanks!

Need to change the governor pressure sensor and solenoid for the newer parts. Also, the retainer for one or the other is different as well, so, keep that in mind too. That's all you should really have to do.

i pulled the whole wiring harness on my old transmission. but will i be able to just switch the sensors and the housing the solenoid sits in, and leave the old harness? i really dont feel like dropping the vb just to switch the harness. plus the mounting plastic was busted off in mine where it holds the connector on top of the vb also.

i just had the gov press solenoid and sensor put in literally 2 months before it died on me. so i have the brand new one sitting on my bench

update- leaving origional wire harness in the trans, putting the new sensor and the solenoid in along with the block thats behind them onto the old style trans, just switching the ends on the connectors from the new trans to the old one to match the sensors. hopefully this will do the trick.

Have a scanner? Governor pressure should be about 1 PSI per mile per hour..... Did you replace the pressure sensor? Or is it still the 99 version?
