Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum and I need help. I have a 1999 Ram 1500 with 5.2 engine and 46re trans. I recently rebuilt the transmission and it now has about 300 mile on it. About 2 weeks ago I was driving and noticed that It wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear. When I and parked to look and see if I could see anything wrong, it was then that I noticed that I had no reverse gear. Got the truck back home and while stationary I shifted from park to reverse, D, 1 and 2. the truck will start in 1st and shift to 2nd but that's it. Also while shifting through the gears I noticed that when I shift into reverse, I can hear and feel the clutch engage but the truck won't move and when I shift from reverse back to park, I hear and feel a clunk. I was thing that the direct clutch was not working but hearing it engage threw me. ANY HELP?
Thanks

For the forward gears, unplug the 8 pin connector on the drivers side of the trans. Then start (moving) in first gear, shift to second, then third, at the appropriate speeds. (the trans will have zero automatic function.) If it shifts when you tell it to, into the gear you tell it to, then its just an electronic problem, and likely just changing the governor pressure sensor and solenoid will solve the issue. While you are in there, adjust the bands, and make sure the band strut hasn't simply fallen out.

If a person were to put a temp sensor in the trans using a pressure port, which one would they use?
