2002 dana 60 front -- put me out of my misery
Can someone please put me out of my misery.
2001 1500. I finally broke my dana 44 front, which had some money in lockers and gears, etc. in it. I just ordered a 2002 ram dana 60 front, with 4:10 in it. I think it is out of a 2500.
Now, I'm reading it could possibly have a 32 spline instead of a 35 spline. Is that true? I found conflicting info. I want to order 4:56 gears, and a trutrac locker, but can't do the locker if it has 32 spline.
If it is from a 2002 2500, does this definately have a 32 spline, or is it a maybe? And if yes, please tell me what I have to buy to change the inners to 35 spline. (axle shaft lenghts, spiders, etc... I have no idea!)
Thanks

You gotta at least put up pictures of the D44 carnage?!?! With the competitions, what obstacle had it give it up?
2002 is a cross over year to 3rd Gen. I'm fairly certain it is 32 spline, but to be absolutely sure is by 2 ways. 1. Count the splines by hand like mentioned by AtomicDog. 2. Get the BOM number, on passenger side of tube. 6 digits and sometimes a 7th that is -#. The BOM tells everything about the axle, which is what you want in your records anyways.
Go 35 spline anyways, which means you get axle shafts too.

I did decide to go 35 spline, but the hard part is waiting for the axle before I order them. It's going to take a few weeks for the axle to get to Honduras, and then another couple of weeks afterwards for the parts, unless I order them all now.
Is it possible for me to order them before getting the axle? Does anyone know what the lenghts are? What seal kit?
I want to go ahead and put in chromoly, 4.56 gears, and a locker.
The gears in the axle are 4.10. I would have to put thick 4.56 gears in, does that change if I put in a locker?
If someone wants to put a shopping list out for me, feel free, lol. I'm tired of the slow bleed, I just need to cut it off already.

Lol, yes, I do. That's another thing I've been thinking about I think I am going to have a machine shop work that for me. I think they can fill in, and make a new bolt pattern.
The other option I am looking at is a replacement hub. Yukon makes part YHC63907. I'm not yet sure if it will work or not, as it's made for GM.
Is it ok to post a link to YUKON? https://www.yukongear.com/productdet...px?ProdID=9926
The LAST option is to use an 8 lug to 5 lug adapter. I have found a few available. The issue I have read is that there will be a hole that overlaps.
Any thoughts on that??
