Default 1995 dodge ram transmission problems

i have a 1995 dodge ram 1500 5.9 v8 360 46RE tranny, when i take off from a dead stop the tranny wont shift out of frist til i let off the gas, not only that but if I take off from a dead stop and accelerate very very slow to the speed a want, it will shift soft, passing someone is out of the question, I bought a transmission filter and fluid but will that help at all?

In that year Dodge Ram, you should have a 46RH transmission. Might be time to adjust the band and ensure the fluid is at the correct level.

Yeah, what ^ he said. Do the fluid/filter and band adjust. See if that doesn't improve its attitude.

You will get soft shifts when accelerating gently.

im already getting soft shifts when I accelerate gently as mention in my post, what is a band adjust? Thanks!

Before doing anything, make sure that the fluid is at the right level - a low trans fluid level will make the trans shift funny and/or not at all.

its to high i put alot of transmission slip fix in there but it was doing the same thing before I put the slip stuff in there anyways, but i wonder if i have to adjust the inner and outer band, or can i just get away with justing the outer band?

update guys, i changed the filter and fluided, Did NOT help, there was a C clamp in the tranny pan, dont know where that come from, shop wants $1000 to adjust the band, i wanna do it to save ALOT of money, afraid to break something, I seen a youtube video how to adjust the band, looks simple to do.

Would love to see a photo of the C clamp you found in your trans pan. $1000 is highway robbery to adjust the band - as you can see in the numerous videos on the subject, its very easy to do - do it yourself and hopefully it will fix your issue - certainly can't hurt to try..
