Default 1998 ram 1500, rebuilt 46re no reverse: SOLVED

Howdy,
So, i just rebuilt a 46re transmission, replaced the the broken rear servo with the superiors upgraded billet one.
I also replaced the valve body (ebay "rebuilt", looked good at inspections)
Clutchs, rings, bushings, and OD snap rings.
Sonex upgraded front servo and acumulator

After installing the transmission i have all forward gears, they work great.
No reverse
No engine breaking

I readjusted the rear band thinking that may be the problem, no dice.
I broke out my trusty pressure gauge, i have 65Psi of line pressure at idle. No pressure, or fluid comes out of the rear servo test port in any gear... which i find very odd.

Please help!
Thanks,
-Andy

Does the band adjust up properly? There are a bunch of reasons you lose reverse, none of them much fun.....

Welcome to DF!

The band adjusted up to spec, its also a new band.

I'm more concerned about why the reverse servo has no pressure, and why no fluid is coming out of the test port when its running with the plug removed...

Hmmm, you replaced the rear servo. Correct one (probably)? Jammed maybe...

Or that eBay valve body...

Check the easy stuff first, make sure the linkage is adjusted properly.

yep, replaced the rear servo with this one:

I also blew some air into the rear servo housing from the service port. I can hear the servo moving and it holds pressure just fine.

As if right now, based on that i'm getting zero fluid from the rear servo, im going to have to assume that there is either a complete blockage in the transmission case (which i would doubt) or (more probable) that the valve body is not passing fluid the rear servo housing. At any given time I should have over 100psi in there according to the manual...

You have already dug deeper into it than I am familiar with. Automatic transmissions are simply black magic as far as I am concerned.

Already done, took the linkage off and manually shifted it from park to reverse from under the truck while its running. No reverse, no fluid or pressure to the
rear low/reverse servo.

Do you have a copy of the service manual yet? If not, get one from here. I do believe they have flow paths in there for the various gears. I could never make heads or tails for 'em, but, maybe it will help you.

Sounds like a valve body issue to me. Problem with a "rebuilt" eBay valve body is all you can HOPE is that whoever rebuilt the valve body put all the spool valves, springs, plugs, ect. Back together correctly and the correct way.

What was wrong with your old valve Body?
