Abs predicament
Just wanted to get a little bit of info here on my 94 1500. So, I know that from the factory, these trucks came with at least Rwal ABS, and some of them 4wal abs. I'm the third owner of the truck, bought it off my grandpa, and before that he bought it off a guy at about 50,000 miles. So I won't be surprised if someone did some tinkering or such, but let's get too it.
I Have ZERO indication of abs under the hood. I haven't looked for sensors or anything on the rears or fronts. I don't have a ABS fuse and/or relay, and I'm not sure what abs module looks like, or where it connects to the brake lines, but I know I have zero abs function. When it gets icy here i can lock the tires no problem, and no abs indication. The strange thing is, the abs light on the dash comes on with the brake light for 3-4 seconds and then turns off when you start the tuck, as normal. So I'm just confused here. I can get some pictures if needed, but looking for some info here, so I can possible fix it.
If I can I always got the manual ABS if ya know what I mean

I suspect you have RWAL only. And quite frankly, it's pretty useless. I have RWAL only as well, and I can lock the rears whenever I feel like it. It basically doesn't really do anything at all. I live on a gravel road, drive a 3/4 ton truck (HUGE rear brakes), and when unloaded, it is hard NOT to lock up the rears..... I just drive more carefully on the slick roads.... and do NOT count on the ABS to do anything at all.
No, the lights light up as Normal. Brake light works when p-brake is engaged. Abs and brake turn on and then go off after about 3 seconds after starting the truck.
So it seems like it's working as normal, just when I pull the cover at the PDC, I don't see a ABS relay or fuse(if it has one).
I don't need abs, and if it is rwal then it probably wont serve any purpose. I probably keep the ol manual abs foot trick. Hasent let me down yet!
Thanks for the info. If I can get a abs relay I'll put one in and see what it does. Since mine has taken a vacation it seems. If not no biggie

If all you have is RWAL, there won't be an ABS relay, or fuse. It's all controlled by the PCM, and all there is to it, is the dump valve on the rear brake line.
From all appearances, things are working as they should...... for whatever that's worth.

I guess that's the end of this thread. Thanks!
