Default intermittent tranny shifting problem

2001 Ram 2500. It never seems like it starts off in first gear. Sometimes it wont shift from second to third . I have to raise motor to 4000 rpms then shift to neutral then back into drive. It will the shift into 3rd. But wont shift into OD. Other times it shifts fine. I change the Governor pressure sensor and a selenoid than came in the kit, also the speed sensor. Ive been driving it for years like this . But I need to fix it.

What about the governor pressure sensor? Did you change that as well? Are you getting any codes???

That shouldn't matter..... How's fluid level? Need to check it in neutral... checking in park gives an artificially high reading.

TV cable? Adjust the bands?

So, try this:

Disconnect the 8 pin connector on the drivers side of the trans. It's about halfway back. (this is the plug for all the electronics in the trans. You have likely already played with it.)

Go for a drive. The trans will have ZERO automatic function. None. So, start out in first, and shift when appropriate. You will also have no TCC, or O/D.

If the trans shifts into the gear you tell it to, when you tell it to, you still have an electronics problem. If it doesn't....... It's rebuild time.

How many miles on the transmission?

I had to replace mine at 162,000 miles.
