Sonnax 12861-01
On a new-to-me 1997 Laramie 5.2 2wd w/ 46-RE trans. did a fluid/filter change, and added a pan drain.
For the record, believe it to be 181,000 actual miles on original engine/trans.
Drilled out the check valve as recommended here in the forums.
Adjusted the bands and replaced the 3-4 accumulator spring with a Sonnax 12861-01, having seen numerous posts recommending this spring.
Thought I had done my homework, but now see that it is NOT recommended for my 1997 Ram 1500 2wd.
I've put on less than 30 miles road testing, and the shifts are nice and firm, though I'm wondering if I should put a new stock spring back, and/or if the Sonnax 12861-01 will cause me problems down the road?
It's gonna be more of a driver than anything else, maybe some light trailer towing to the dumps a few times a year.
Any thoughts, suggestions?

I think it's a GREAT idea, but in checking Oregon Performance Transmission's eBay page
for compatibility I got this.....
"This part is not compatible with 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 LT Standard Cab Pickup 2-Door 5.2L 5211CC 318Cu. In. V8 GAS OHV Naturally Aspirated."
This being my first effort on the internals of an auto trans. figured I'd better check with the experts.
Thanks HeyYou, I think I'll be happy with the upgrade.

Actually I think it's just the 'compatibility' function in the eBay listing.
In now looking at the Sonnax website, they show the following.... without mention of
any specific year. I'm keepin it in there for the longhaul for sure.
"42RE, 42RH, 46RE, 46RH, 47RE, 47RH, 48RE 3-4 Accumulator Spring
Part No. 12861-01
Matches OE Diesel calibration
