Why? They didn't come with them from the factory...... It isn't really necessary, and I personally don't think it does anything worth while either.

Here 'ya go - http://www.manciniracing.com/moptimchaint.html

I believe in them for long-lasting rock solid timing and I have one in my motor. They take up slack in the chain as they stretch, as they all do, even double roller chain setups.

They take up the slack on the loose side of the chain. Chain stretch will still affect timing, but, I suppose, with the tensioner in there, it may be a bit more stable.

Exactly, why add a plastic wear item to your engine when it really has no benefit?

Double rollers will eliminate "stretch" for easily 200k+ miles when oil system is taken care of. I see no point unless specific performance build dictates it

I have seen them used in old la blocks, The chain wears threw the black material them goes into the metal behind it. If you do use one keep that in mind so you can replace it before it gets that far.

Agreed. Chain "stretch" is not actually metal stretching. It's caused by individual links wearing down, thereby lengthening the chain. Keep oil topped off, don't run a thick oil and change it before it goes too dirty. Do this and you won't have chain stretch.
