Default Finding a balancer

I'm having trouble finding a new balancer. Every place that has them online says out of stock, their around $100.00. Several months ago a dealership quoted me around $400.00, wondering now if they could even get one. Found used on car-part.com, not sure if used is the way to go with this though.

Check the parts stores, or Rock Auto. See what they got.

My 2001 parts manual calls for a 53021103 front main seal. That crosses to a National 710885 seal, the specs are here.

Depending on where it is leaking, you should be able to find a seal with a smaller diameter shaft opening or a slightly larger seal with the same diameter shaft opening. A decent parts shop should be able to assist with locating what you need.

you sure? I'll sell you this one. Great truck. Runs good, lots of power. Lifted, after market wheels, magnaflows, 4x4, extended cab, long bed. Interior is super clean. Just can't get the damn thing to stop leaking oil. Oh, and the paint has started coming off, so there's that. Just got a $2,600.00 quote to paint it.
I found a new harmnonic balancer today at a dealership for $235.00, apparently the last one on the planet. So I think I might just do that along with yet another crankshaft seal, (4th ones a charm) and hope that it stops my leak. One things for sure, if I do decide to do it; it's gonna be the last mystery money I put into this thing. If it still leaks I'm getting another truck, I may do that anyway without doing the balancer.

That may be something to try. It's coming out between the repair sleeve and the seal. The sleeve is perfectly smooth. Maybe putting in one with a slightly smaller diameter shaft opening may work.

The second I read on here where the oil pump was I was like, "Nope.. never for me." I like to be able to work on my own vehicles.

$2600 is a pretty good price for a repaint if that's for the whole truck.

I have a 69 Buick I restored and the online Buick forum I belong to has a list of front seals with different diameter openings to help guys with worn balancers and timing covers. Tech support at national seal should be able to come up with numbers for a better fit with or without out the sleeve.

If you go the balancers route and are not satisfied, post it here. I'm sure one of us will buy it from you.

What does oil pump location have to do with it? Not like pulling the timing cover is that much of an exercise.. I work on my own truck, I don't pay other folks to do it for me. (can't afford it. )

It's easier to replace the one on my 5.2L, it's not about me being broke... It's because I'm lazy. lol

5.2L I can just pull the oil pan.
