Default Signal and flasher problem on 96 2500 Cummins

Ihave no signal or 4-ways. However when I depress the 4-way button the signal indicators work fine! I checked fuses and flasers in the cab and the 15 amp fusein the power distribution box under the hood is fine. I'm stumped I don't know what else to test before I replace the multi switch? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thumbs up

That's what it must be buddy because the switch is where the difference is made on my indicators lack of flashers at any time and affecting the brake lights also. Thank you for your time and the second opinion.

Default Signal and flasher problem on 96 2500 Cummins

Dear Hey You, On 8/11 I posted 96 Ram Signal and Flasher problem. I replaced the multifunction switch and the same symptoms prevail. I discovered that the heavy ground wire with a lug at the end that feeds the power distribution box is HOT! So I traced it back to the alternator and it goes through a black juctionbox that is attatched to the alternator and attatches to a stud at the rear base of the alternator and that cconection testa hot also! Now I'm stumped. The dual batteries have matching polarization.Thanking you in advance, Bill

Merged the two threads so everyone can see what's going on.

If you hit your turn signal switch, do ANY lights come on? Either in the dash, or the outside of the truck?

Yes but only when the 4-ways button is depressed. Depressing that button allow the directionals to fuction inside and outside of the vehicle and also allows the brake lights to work. Under no conditions do the 4-ways work. I don't know why that button affects those fuctions! I'm a pretty good troubleshooter but this one has me Buddy!!

So if the 4 way button isn't down, nothing at all happens? No lights anywhere? And this has been the same across two switches?
